An update following today’s visit to the site — the road is now fully blocked with materials and equipment, and excavation works have commenced. It is not possible to drive along the road.
The site supervisor has confirmed that the works are expected to take approximately 5 weeks to complete. We have also been advised that additional workforce has been brought onto site to help ensure this timescale is achieved.
I appreciate this closure is causing considerable disruption for residents, local businesses, and visitors, and many people were understandably surprised by the lack of prior communication.
I will continue to seek updates and encourage engagement with the community so residents are kept informed as the works progress.
Please continue to allow extra time for journeys and use alternative routes where possible.
