Kimpton Surgery (part of Bridge Cottage Practice) of Welwyn, Hertfordshire is proposed for closure. We believe this will adversely impact healthcare delivery and increase health inequalities for local people. We believe insufficient consideration has been given to older and disabled people and particularly non drivers living in this rural community. The GP has issued a statement below;
“After lengthy consideration, Bridge Cottage Surgery is proposing to close the branch surgery at Kimpton. We are asking for any surveys or written responses to be returned by 11th April 2022”
We contend the following;
– Consultation does not give sufficient time and does not enable meaningful engagement with those affected.
– Proposal is at odds with NHS aspiration of delivering higher standards of care more locally.
– A full equality impact assessment has not been published to help citizens understand the full rationale and alternative options available.
We ask local politicians, NHS Leaders and Bridge Cottage Surgery owners to work with local community members and leaders to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens are able to get the care they deserve. Their needs should not be forgotten.
