Kimpton Groundwater Levels

In case you haven’t seen the relevant page on the Parish Council website, we urge you to keep an eye on the progression of groundwater levels in Kimpton following the recent wet weather.

We have a sump which is monitored daily, and the level in the sump at which flooding becomes a risk is 230cm.  The sump was dry until the 11th February, and the water has been rising steadily since then, and at the time of writing (23rd February) it stands at 93cm.

It is important not to assume that flooding will occur – we had some water in the sump last year with no issues.  Equally, it is important not to be complacent.  The sump gives us a good indication of when any flooding may occur, so please bookmark the groundwater page on the Parish Council website, and keep checking it for regular progress reports.
