A Herts Fire and Rescue water pump test was scheduled to take place this weekend, 6 – 7 March. This has now been cancelled. It was due to rehearse pumping water away from the village should flooding occur, but until it is clear that doing this will not cause issues with local drains or that it would not have a negative impact on water catchment areas outside of the village, this testing has been put on hold.

We are currently working closely with our partner organisations to investigate this and look at possible outcomes. We will of course, advise you if a water pump test is put in at a later date. Pumping water at a flood site is not a guarantee that flooding would not occur in the village, but it is one measure that may be deployed should water levels rise to a critical level.

In the meantime, we continue to monitor groundwater levels on a daily basis and will inform you of any updates in this situation as they arise.
