Get Involved

Kimpton is a vibrant community full of residents coming together to create positive change in our village. It is through the efforts and enthusiasm of volunteers that there are many regular community events and one-off projects throughout the year to get involved in. Many of these are supported by Kimpton Parish Council either though permission to use council land, financial support or active councillor involvement. Whether you want to get involved with the organisation of event or want to donate a few hours to helping others there are numerous ways that you can contribute, make a difference and meet new friends.

Join A Working Group

Many of the parish council activities, campaigns and projects are organised by working groups. Made up of councillors and other resident volunteers, this is where local people get together to tackle issues that concern them.

This is a great way to get involved in working with neighbours in ways that make a real difference to Kimpton.

The current working groups are listed below:

  • Allotments
  • Environment
  • Highways and Parking
  • Kimpton Bench
  • Public Spaces and Playgrounds
  • Rights of Way
  • Sports Clubs

Each of the groups works in slightly different ways with a leader and holding a few meetings through the year, except for Kimpton Bench Working Party which operates under the leadership of Bob Finch. The working groups make recommendations to the Parish Council, which decides which proposals to take forward.

There is no limit to the amount of working groups the parish council can have, within reason, so if you have an idea for a new group and a passion to make it happen let us know.

Current Opportunities

Kimpton in Winter – Past and Now

The idea: To place two display boards in the Church ‘s Dacre Chapel – one for ‘The Past’ and the other for ‘Winter 2020/ 2021’. We would then invite all of you to contribute by adding a picture, drawing, painting, photograph or account, to the relevant board. In that way we hope that slowly a sharing exhibition will form. It would then be for all to enjoy, all to take part.
NB We would like this to be much wider in scope than ‘landscapes’ especially for this year!

After the exhibition is over: we hope to gather the exhibits in and put them into the ‘History of Kimpton’ Archive. We are living through a Historic time so contributions particularly to the current board will be of keen interest. All exhibits should have your name and the date on the back. (Should you not want to be part of the archive, simply put your address on the back of your exhibit and it will be returned to you).
Practicalities: Velcro patches (for fixing your exhibit) will be supplied at Church. Simply add your contribution to the relevant board – neatly!
‘Kimpton past’ exhibits: Please date them and put who is on the picture or where the image is – if known either on the back or on a paper mount or on a title card (provided).
‘Kimpton Winter 2020 / 21’ – dates and name of artist on the back or a title card .

The Church venue: Linda and the Churchwardens have kindly given permission for this to take place BUT all Covid rules must be adhered to by both Contributors and Viewers. We are lucky that, at the moment at least, the Church is open during daylight hours. Pop in and enjoy it.
